Lion Links
Lion Links: 2/19/18
Merry Monday morning, Mane Landers! We’re edging closer and closer to the start of the season, and there’s some exciting news for Orlando City. I would tell you right now, but that would spoil the link below, so keep reading. That being said, we also want to wish a happy birthday to Pride players Toni Pressley and Marta! Let’s get to the Links!
Orlando City Transfer Rumor
Jason Kreis told us that there would be another defensive piece added, and it looks like it’s going to be center back Lamine Sané from Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. Not only should the Lions get a quality defensive player, but it seems that there’s not a fee associated with the transfer.
France Football report that Lamine Sané is already in Florida, successfully passed his medical, and is expected to finalize contract with #OCSC "in the coming hours." Free transfer after the 30 year old CB terminated his #Werder contract. #Bundesliga #MLS https://t.co/zDFT2l4KME

It’s entirely possible that you might not have heard of Sané, as Orlando City is the king of mystery signings. Given that, here is a video to get you acquainted with the possible new Lion.
Uri is on His Way
New Orlando City midfielder Oriol Rosell is finally on his way to Orlando. Uri checked in at the Barcelona airport to let Orlando know. Rosell was acquired back on Jan. 30, and will soon be joining his new teammates.
Melbourne City Wins W-League Title
Alanna Kennedy and Melbourne City deafeated Sydney FC for the Australian W-League title, 2-0. The win gives Melbourne City its third consecutive title. Jessica Fishlock scored once and provided an assist to lead City. Hopefully, now that the W-League season is over, we can get Kennedy back to Orlando.
Most Cards Ever
There’s a very good chance you were not watching the match between Vitoria and Bahia. There’s a very good chance you didn’t even know those were teams. The problem is that we all wish we did know those teams and that we did watch that game. Not because it was a great game, or that there were some fantastic goals, but because that game was stopped. Again, not because of weather, or another natural disaster, but because there were 10 red cards, and eight yellow cards issued. I repeat, 10 red cards, and eight yellow cards. Admit it, you wish you could have seen that.

- While we’re waiting for the season to start, there were plenty of Americans playing soccer abroad. Here’s how they did.
- Famous birthdays for today include, pop star Seal (54), Smokey Robinson (77), actor Jeff Daniels (62), and actor/director Benicio del Toro (50). To be fair, there’ are a bunch of younger people that I don’t know about, so feel free to look them up if you’d like.
I’m going to leave you today with some very wise words from one of the best fictional characters of all time. Ron Swanson.
