Lions and Revolution, Result

With a young squad that screamed experimentation, no strikers, no Yoshi, and several other key players missing, things went about how you’d expect for a team that hasn’t scored a goal in more than a month. The Revolution dominated the Lions and won, 2-0. Here’s the coverage:

Yoshi Yotun and Peru Down Chile, 3-0

Peru has had a knack for besting Chile in recent times, and that trend continued as a Yotún-led Peru side downed Chile in an international friendly in Miami. The Lions’ star played the entire 90 minutes, and was a key cog in the midfield that ultimately won the Peruvians the match. All three goals came in the second half as Peru beat Chile in a convincing fashion. the USMNT and Peru will next see each other in a match scheduled for Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m. ET in East Hartford, CT. That match will be available via ESPN2 and UDN.

The USWNT faces Jamaica with a 2019 World Cup Berth at Stake

The Stars and Stripes will line up across from Jamaica tonight (8 p.m. ET) in the Concacaf Women’s Championship semifinals, with a win granting the victor a berth in the upcoming 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The other semifinal tie, a match between Panama and Canada, will be played at 4 p.m., and will also grant the winner an appearance on the grand stage to be held in France. Oh, and both of today’s winners will meet for the Concacaf title on Wednesday. The USWNT has been on hot streak as of late, holding a 14-0-2 record in the 2018 calendar year. Be sure to tune in to root on the squad as they prepare for what should be yet another strong run at the cup next year. We’ll have full coverage of the match for you.

Montreal Impact Losing Millions

The Montreal Impact are, apparently, losing millions each season, according to club owner Joey Saputo. With a ticket price that is $10 below the league average and an attendance rated nearly the poorest in the league, Saputo is calling for a major financial makeover. I’m not sure how he’d do that, but at least he has acknowledged that making cuts to players’ salaries is not an option.

“There might be some markets where they don’t have to spend a lot of money on players and they can get away with it. In Montreal that will never work. We know that,” Saputo said.

• USMNT goalkeeping prodigy Zack Steffen has been removed from the roster ahead of the squad’s clash with Peru, citing tightness in his right hamstring. He’s being rested as a precaution, but this certainly throws a wrench in the team’s starting 11.
• Sacramento Republic FC wasn’t handed any favors in the recent #SavedTheCrew success, but they’re still confident they can be a viable MLS club.
• Thierry Henry has officially been appointed the manager of AS Monaco.
• Check out this goal for North Carolina FC…enough said.

• Argentina legend Diego Maradona doesn’t view icon Lionel Messi as a leader.
