Merry Monday morning, Mane Landers. Well, the good news is the Lions can’t hurt us anymore this year. The bad news is they did it one last time while losing to the New York Red Bulls last night.

Orlando City Falls in Final 2018 Game

Orlando City finished out the 2018 season in New Jersey against the New York Red Bulls with a 1-0 loss. Despite a good performance from Adam Grinwis, the Lions were unable to convert any of their chances to at least draw with New York. The Red Bulls were able to secure the Supporters’ Shield with their win, coupled with Atlanta United FC’s loss. So with Atlanta being denied I guess it could’ve been worse.

Make sure to check back later today for five takeaways from yours truly.

MLS Decision Day Results

It was crazy Decision Day for MLS with every match starting at the same time to keep everyone honest. Make sure to check out who is in and who is out The knockout rounds will start with the Portland Timbers traveling to Dallas while Real Salt Lake — in because the LA Galaxy blew a 2-0 lead at home to Houston on Sunday — will take on LAFC in Los Angeles in the Western Conference. Over in the Eastern Conference, New York City FC is hosting the Philadelphia Union while the Columbus Crew travel to D.C. United. Maybe we can approach it the way U.S. supporters did for the World Cup and just enjoy some good soccer without stressing about our own team.

Leicester City Helicopter Crash Claims Club Chairman

Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is one of five people confirmed dead in a helicopter crash. The helicopter took off Saturday from the center circle after City’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United. Shortly after takeoff, the helicopter made some grinding noises, then an explosion was heard, followed by a big fireball. It is an immense tragedy for the Leicester City community and for all of soccer. Our thoughts go out to all the families. Here is the statement from the club.

EPL Roundup

It might have been a big day in MLS, but plenty happened across the pond as well. Thanks to a 2-1 win over Everton, Jose Mourinho and Manchester United got back in the win column. Liverpool moved to the top of the table, at least until later today when Manchester City takes on Tottenham. Chelsea was without Eden Hazard, but was still able to decimate Burnley, 4-0.

Free Kicks

  • This type of play was definitely missing from Chioma Ubogagu and Carson Pickett during the Pride’s season. However, it seems that the pair has found it for the Brisbane Roar.
  • No. 9 Florida State University women’s soccer team defeated No. 5 Duke, 1-0 to advance to the ACC semifinals.

That’ll do it for the last post-game Lion Links of the season. I know it hasn’t been the best season for supporters of Orlando City, but now we get to look forward to the off-season. What moves will be made? Which players will still be here next year? All of these questions will be answered, and The Mane Land will be there to cover it for you.
