2018 Orlando City Academy College Roundup

Every year several players graduate from the Orlando City Academy and attend colleges from across the country on soccer scholarships. Many graduates played a key role in the success of their teams during the 2018 season. With the 2018 College Cup occurring this coming weekend, we look at how Orlando City’s college players did this year.

Raul Aguilera (Sophomore, F, University of North Carolina):

Played in 14 games with 13 starts, recorded 1,078 minutes, took 10 shots with one on target, recorded three assists.

Gorka Aperribay (Senior, F, University of Central Florida):

Played in 11 games with six starts, took 19 shots with seven on target, recorded one goal and two assists.

Brandon Bartel (Junior, MF, University of Pennsylvania):

Played in 16 games with 16 starts, recorded 1,603 minutes, took 22 shots with seven on goal, recorded six assists.

Facundo Costantini (Freshman, D, University of Pittsburgh):

Played in six games with one start, recorded 120 minutes, took one shot.

Talla Faye (Freshman, MF, Florida International University):

Played in 12 games with three starts, recorded 582 minutes, took 10 shots with two on target, recorded one goal and one assist.

Kyle Ferguson (Freshman, D, Eastern Florida State College):

Played in nine games with two starts.

Jacob Framson (Freshman, MF, Fordham University):

Played in one game, recording 15 minutes.

Caleb Franke (Freshman, MF, Florida International University):

Played in 14 games with eight starts, recorded 602 minutes, took five shots with two on target, recorded one assist.

Landen Haig (RS Freshman, F, Wake Forest University):

Played in six games, took one shot on target.

Juan Hernandez (Sophomore, F, Appalachian State University):

Played in 17 games with 16 starts, took six shots with two on target, recorded three assists.

Tristin Johnson (Junior, MF, Rollins College):

Played in eight games with one start.

Aaron Kleinert (Junior, D, Lynn University):

Played in two games, took one shot.

Logan Laskey (Junior, MF, Rollins College):

Played 16 games with five starts, took three shots with one on target, recorded one goal and two assists.

Eli Lockaby (Senior, MF, Virginia Commonwealth University):

Played in 18 games with 18 starts, took 12 shots with nine on goal, recorded one goal and three assists.

David Loera (Sophomore, F, North Carolina State University):

Played in 20 games with 20 starts, recorded 1,835 minutes, took 36 shots with 21 on target, recorded three goals and seven assists. Was named first team All-ACC.

Braeden Luna (Junior, GK, Stetson University):

Played in 15 games, recorded 1,407 minutes, conceded 29 goals for a 1.86 goals-against average, recorded 52 saves and three shutouts.

Charles Lynch (Senior, MF, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology):

Played in 16 games with 16 starts, took 10 shots, had three shots on goal, recorded one goal and two assists.

Caleb Martinez (Freshman, MF, North Carolina State University):

Played in five games, recorded 76 minutes, took one shot, recorded one assist.

Igor Martins (Freshman, F, Broward College):

Played in 12 games with 11 starts, took 16 shots, recorded four goals and one assist.

Jack McCloskey (Sophomore, D, University of Central Florida):

Played in four games with one start, recorded 209 minutes.

Jason Nduese-udom (Freshman, D, Mercer University):

Played in 13 games with seven starts, record 791 minutes, took five shots, scored one goal.

George New (Senior, MF, Rollins College):

Played in 16 games with 13 starts, took 14 shots with five on target, recorded two goals and three assists.

David Norris (Sophomore, D, North Carolina State University):

Played in 20 games with 20 starts, recorded 1,858 minutes, took nine shots with five on target, scored one goal.

Daniel O’Brien (Senior, F, Stetson University):

Played 19 games with 16 starts, recorded 1,173 minutes, took 46 shots with 16 on target, recorded three goals and two assists.

Nicholas O’Callaghan (Senior, D, Florida International University):

Played in one game, recorded 56 minutes, took two shots with both on target, scored one goal.

Alejandro Pereira (Freshman, F, Portland University):

Played in 18 games with 10 starts, took 30 shots with 12 on target, recorded three goals and two assists.

Jonathan Rosales (Junior, D, University of South Florida):

Played in seven games with six starts, recorded 442 minutes, took four shots, recorded one assist.

Brandon Scherr (Senior, D, University of the Cumberlands):

Played in 13 games with 13 starts, recorded 823 minutes, took two shots on goal.

AJ Seals (Freshman, MF, North Carolina State University):

Played in 11 games with nine starts, recorded 778 minutes, took seven shots with one on target.

Cyrus Siminou (Senior, MF, Rollins College):

Played in 15 games with 14 starts, took 17 shots with six on goal, recorded one goal and one assist.

Aidan Wixted (Junior, D, Stetson University):

Played in 19 games with 18 starts, recorded 1,566 minutes, took eight shots with two on target, recorded one assist.

Dennis Zapata (Senior, MF, Florida Gulf Coast University):

Played in 15 games with 12 starts, recorded 812 minutes, took 12 shots with four on target, scored two goals.


It’s been another successful season for Orlando City’s academy graduates throughout college soccer. Hopefully we’ll see some of these players donning purple soon.
