Happy Thursday, everyone. We’re getting closer to the 2019 MLS season starting and teams are busy making moves in preparation. Former Lions continue to disperse around the league and even our local club might be making some moves eventually.

Here are today’s links.

James O’Connor Wants Roster Moves

Orlando City Head Coach James O’Connor spoke with the media about potential roster moves and said that he’s hoping to see some coming soon. While being careful not to confirm anything, he says that he’s hopeful the club will bring in some talented players to join the squad. O’Connor also spoke about releasing draft pick Tommy Madden from training camp, stating that he wasn’t an upgrade over what the club already has and that’s what they’re looking for.

Sebas Feeling Comfortable with Orlando City

One of Orlando City’s new additions, Jhegson Sebastián “Sebas” Méndez, who the club signed to replace Yoshi Yotún says that he’s feeling comfortable playing for the Lions. The Ecuadorian midfielder said he has enjoyed his time so far playing for James O’Connor and that Dom Dwyer and Chris Mueller have particularly made him feel welcome. This is a good sign as Sebas will be expected to make a big impact on the team this season.

Jason Kreis Joins Inter Miami

Inter Miami, one of MLS’ newest clubs and David Beckham’s project, has been busy filling up on former Lions. First it was former Orlando City General Manager Paul McDonough making the move from Atlanta, followed by Niki Budalic, and now former Lions boss Jason Kreis has joined the fray. The former RSL, NYCFC, and Orlando City man will be joining the club’s technical staff but, interestingly, not as first team head coach.

Scott Sutter Signs with Vancouver Whitecaps

The Vancouver Whitecaps have announced that they’ve signed former Orlando City right back Scott Sutter to a one-year contract with an option for 2020. The Swiss international spent the last two seasons with the Lions and performed well, becoming a fan favorite. His departure disappointed many Orlando City fans but they’ll have chance to see him again as his new club will visit Orlando City Stadium in April.

Matt Polster Moves to Rangers

Former Chicago Fire Homegrown midfielder Matt Polster has been in Scotland on trial with Rangers. The club has signed Polster to a two-and-a-half year deal after manager Steven Gerrard was impressed with his time so far at the club. It’s another young MLS player that will have his chance at a top European club.

Nani ’50-50’ on Coming to MLS

Portuguese midfielder and former Manchester United star Nani has been rumored to be coming to MLS for a few weeks now. ESPN is reporting that a league source has listed the 32-year-old’s chances of joining the league at 50-50. We’ll have to wait and see if he ends up making the jump from Europe like so many former European stars have.
