Orlando City B vs. Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Preview & How to Watch

Orlando City B (0-4-1, 1 point) returns home tonight as the Young Lions welcome Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (2-3-0, 6 points). Coming off of a tough loss in Texas, the Young Lions will be looking to secure their first win of the season.

It’s been a rough start to the 2019 USL League One season for OCB. A four-game home stand to start the year saw the young team gather just one point. The first two games they played a man down for half the game after a late first-half sending-off and gave up a lead in the two most recent home games.

Last weekend, OCB traveled to Texas for its first road game of the season against North Texas SC. The Young Lions dominated the first 15 minutes but were unable to convert on any chances. In the 42nd minute, a corner kick by North Texas was deflected off the inside of the leg of OCB defender Matheus Silva and into the net for an own goal. That was the deciding factor in the game as OCB fell, 1-0.

Silva’s own goal was especially tough as he was coming off a USL League One Team of the Week performance against Forward Madison FC. For a positive note, OCB goalkeeper Juliano Chade was named to the Team of the Week this week for the second time this season. After the first two games saw starts by Luca Mancuso and Christian Herrera, Chade has become the team’s number one, starting each of the last three games.

Tonight, Chattanooga Red Wolves visit Montverde Academy as the Young Lions return home. Chattanooga is one of the league’s independent clubs and has played five games this season with two wins and three losses. The Tennessee-based club has three opponents in common with OCB so far this season — North Texas SC, Forward Madison FC, and South Georgia Tormenta FC. After a tough 3-2 loss to North Texas to start the season, Chattanooga defeated Madison and Tormenta for its only two wins of the season. This past weekend, Chattanooga visited the Richmond Kickers where the Red Wolves fell 1-0, thanks to a 52nd-minute goal by former OCB striker Joe Gallardo.

Offensively this season, Chattanooga has been led by midfielder Steven Beattie, with three goals, and striker Éamon Zayed, with two. In addition to those two, several chances have been created by Josue Soto and Vangjel Zguro, making them a pair of players to watch. Zguro is the only player on the Red Wolves with more than one assist on the season, tallying two so far.

While OCB is still reeling from a back injury to Ates Diouf, forward Will Bagrou is off the injured list after suffering a concussion against South Georgia Tormenta FC. It’s unknown if he’ll be in the team tonight but it will be a welcome return for a team that has been without two starting forwards and has had trouble this season offensively.

OCB will be looking to claim points before traveling to Texas for the second time in three weeks. Three points in this one might be what the Young Lions need to begin to turn things around.
