Lion Links
Lion Links: 5/15/19
Good morning and happy Wednesday, Mane Landers. A happy Wednesday indeed, it is match day after all. I’m still trying to figure our how to work from 7-8 p.m. and watch the 10:30 p.m. game only to be back at work by 7 a.m. tomorrow. I’m now accepting tips or tricks for your girl who, a) is not a morning person, and, b) doesn’t do coffee. Here’s what’s up in the soccer-verse.
Orlando City is In Seattle for Tonight’s Match
Pro Soccer USA wrote up a bit about Orlando City looking to break out of its slump as the Lions take on the Seattle Sounders. We’re all hoping that the rotation and conservation of players will be worth it this week as the Lions play their second road game in three days across the country. Lions Head Coach James O’Connor reportedly declined to comment on whether or not Sacha Kljestan, Lamine Sane, Uri Rosell, and Nani would be in the mix for tonight’s game. But, if you follow some of these guys on social media (like I said you should), you would know that Uri, Shane O’Neill, Danilo Acosta, Santiago Patino, and more are currently with the team in Seattle.
Evan Weston Releases Inaugural Weekly Installment
If you don’t know, Evan Weston is the Lions’ play-by-play broadcaster on My65 and YouTube TV. In our home, he’s often referred to as the “Peg Guy.” Seemingly any time he is referring to Robin Jansson, he refers to his left leg as a peg instead. The club published his first installment of The Weston Weekly yesterday. In his write-up he covered expected goals (xG), his time in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the great weekend for Eastern teams, and the English teams.
And now for the inaugural edition of The Weston Weekly!

Haley Kopmeyer Earns NWSL Save of the Week
Caitlin Foord was looking for a brace in the 66th minute on a PK with Kopmeyer in the net for the Orlando Pride. Kopmeyer expertly saved the ball from going in twice before it was knocked out of the danger area. Ironically enough, the Goal of the Week went to Andressinha of the Portland Thorns in the same game, so there’s that.

New England Revolution Name New Coach
Bruce Arena has been dubbed sporting director and head coach for the New England Revolution. He comes with plenty of experience as the U.S. Men’s National Team’s winningest coach and a five-time MLS Cup champion.

That’s going to do it for me today, Mane Landers. I’m so tired I’m not sure how tonight will go, I’m still adjusting from the car ride back from Atlanta yesterday. Don’t forget to leave some tired-girl tips and tricks for me in the comments. I’m desperate!
