USA vs. Venezuela, International Friendly: Preview, How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, and Match Thread

Welcome to your live thread as the United States Men’s National Team takes on Venezuela in the final match before the 2019 Gold Cup. The match will be played at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati at 2 p.m.

The U.S. is coming off an embarrassing lost to Jamaica. The Americans failed to score and lost to the Reggae Boyz, 1-0. Gregg Berhalther announced the Gold Cup squad later that same day with some major changes.

The biggest of those changes was a roster snub for striker Josh Sargent. It is odd for Sargent not to have made the Gold Cup roster, especially with the U.S. in the U-20 World Cup. Sargent would likely have played a big role in, and started the majority of those matches. Without the forward, the Yanks lost in the quarterfinals.

The U.S. has never lost to La Vinotinto, and lead the all-time series with a record of 3-0-2. The last time that these teams met was back in June of 2017. In front of 17,315 fans in Rio Tinto Stadium, José Velázquez scored in the 29th minute to give Venezuela the 1-0 lead. Christian Pulisic scored in the second half to tie it, and the game ended 1-1. Pulisic will likely start today, however no American has scored more than one goal against La Vinotinto

Match Thread Rules

This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you’re new, welcome to our happy home! While you’re here, please observe a few basic rules:

  • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
  • Try not to be the person who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It’s OK to be critical, and, let’s face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch, but being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
  • Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players / officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • Do unto others in the match thread, the way you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it this way. We have a moderator, but we’d rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.

Enjoy the match! Go America!
