Orlando City B vs Greenville Triumph SC: Preview and How to Watch
Orlando City B (3-8-3, 12 points) returns home tonight as the Young Lions welcome Greenville Triumph SC (3-5-4, 13 points). They will be looking to break a three-game losing streak and climb from last place in USL League One.
OCB was climbing up the standings at the beginning of the month, capping off a three-game home winning streak and a four-game point streak. That came to an end on June 12 when two goals in three minutes allowed FC Tucson to down the Young Lions, 2-1.
They followed up that loss by heading out on the road where they faced South Georgia Tormenta FC and Lansing Ignite FC. It was a tough road trip for the young team as it dropped both games by 2-0 scores. It appeared as though the team had lost its will to fight against Lansing as the Young Lions showed no signs of life in the final 20 minutes of that game.
Tonight, they’ll look to get back on the right track against a Greenville team that hasn’t been much better. The Triumph sit just one point ahead of OCB in the standings and are winless in their last four games. After beating the Richmond Kickers at home 1-0 on May 18, the South Carolina-based side has lost two games to Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and drawn Tormenta and Lansing at home.
Greenville is led offensively by midfielder Jake Keegan, who has scored five goals in 12 appearances this season. He’s the only player on the team with multiple goals. He enters this game off his best performance of the season, scoring a brace in a 3-2 loss to Chattanooga. Other players the Young Lions will need to look out for tonight are midfielders Omar Mohamed and Christopher Bermudez.
It’s been a rough year for Greenville offensively this season. Despite taking 166 shots — third most in the league — the team has only scored eight goals — the fewest in the league. That’s a conversion rate of six percent, also lowest in the league.
Between the posts tonight for Greenville will be Dallas Jaye. He has conceded 10 goals in 12 games this season, with four clean sheets. Defensively, Greenville has done well, conceding the second-fewest goals with 10 and is tied for fourth in clean sheets.
This will be a big game for both teams tonight as they look to climb back up the table. The coveted fourth position is currently held by Toronto FC II with 18 points. That leaves Greenville five points back and OCB six points back. While there are five teams between OCB and fourth place, the Young Lions are only three points out of sixth, occupied by FC Tucson.
This game could see the return of a former Lion in Paul Clowes. The English midfielder played with Orlando City U-23 in 2013 and 2014 while attending Clemson University. He returned to the club in 2017, joining OCB, where he made 16 appearances with 13 starts and scored one goal.
