Orlando City B at Greenville Triumph SC: Preview and How to Watch

Orlando City B (3-9-4, 13 points) returns to action tonight as it looks to build on Wednesday night’s draw with Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. For the second time in three games, the Young Lions will face Greenville Triumph SC (4-5-5, 17 points) as they travel to South Carolina for the first time.

OCB broke its four-game losing streak Wednesday night with an unexpected 1-1 draw with Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. The visitors took the early lead in the 13th minute and appeared to have guaranteed a win when Matheus Silva received two yellow cards 10 seconds apart in the 88th minute. However, Tresor Mbuyu found an injury time equalizer, allowing OCB to record a draw that felt like a win.

Tonight, OCB will take on Greenville Triumph SC for the second time in three weeks. Greenville currently sits one place ahead of OCB and four points ahead, despite having two games in hand. After defeating the Richmond Kickers on May 18, the Triumph went on a four-game winless streak and have only beaten OCB since, doing so two weeks ago. They most recently drew league leaders North Texas SC on Sunday.

The Triumph are led offensively by Jake Keegan who sits on five goals this season. Along with Keegan, Omar Mohamed and Christopher Bermudez are the key offensive weapons for the Triumph. It’s something that the Young Lions found out firsthand two weeks ago.

Greenville is very much a defensive team this season. It’s scored the fewest goals in the USL League One with 10, despite taking 186 shots, fifth in the league. That equates to a 7% conversion rate, dead last in the league this season.

Defensively, the Triumph have been terrific. They’ve only conceded 10 goals this season, ranking them second in the league. Dallas Jaye’s clean sheet last week was his sixth of the season. The only team better defensively this season than Greenville has been South Georgia Tormenta FC, which has conceded nine goals and recorded eight clean sheets.

These two teams faced off for the first time ever last weekend at Montverde Academy. It was a very disappointing effort from OCB, with Head Coach Fernando Jose de Argila Irurita and multiple players saying the effort wasn’t good enough. Greenville took the lead in the 41st minute with a goal by Cameron Saul and doubled it in the 83rd minute through Carlos Gómez. Despite OCB holding the majority of possession in the game, it didn’t amount to much going forward, with the Young Lions only recording four shots and none on target.

With his sending off Wednesday night, OCB will have to play without Silva. This will likely mean the return of Nathan Simeon, who was out of the starting lineup for the first time Wednesday. It will be a noticeable absence as Silva has been one of the elder leaders for the Young Lions. This will increase the need for 24-year-old Brandon John to take on a leadership role in the back.

Having secured a draw to break its longest losing streak of the year, OCB will look to build on the effort tonight in Greenville.
