Good morning, Mane Landers! It’s Wednesday, right? I’m finally to the point in my summer break where I forget the days and rely on my phone to remind me that I have writing obligations! Let’s get to the links!

Orlando City Injury Update

Would it be Orlando City if we weren’t worried about injuries? Austin David shared that while at training, Lions Head Coach James O’Connor said Joao Moutinho is taking it slow, Cristian Higuita will likely be out for another few weeks, and Shane O’Neill is training one-on-one as he works to get back. All the while, the team is focused on Portland!

Bad as a Mother Signs Off

In an emotional season finale, we see Sydney Leroux and Dom Dwyer bring Cassius to meet “baby sissy” and watch as they make their way home as a family of four. If you didn’t watch, the series covered Sydney’s pregnancy while she was training, being showered, nesting, and delivering her baby girl, Roux. For a look behind the scenes, check out this thread from producer Emily Johnson.

All Things Orlando Pride

Marta was named NWSL Player of the Week, while Haley Kopmeyer comes in with another NWSL Save of the Week!

The team is finally back together as the Orlando Pride hosted a welcome home event for the women of the World Cup. Fans lined the streets waiting to get in to Lion’s Pride, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer proclaimed July 16, 2019 World Cup Champions Day, and gave Alex Morgan, Ashlyn Harris, and Ali Krieger keys to the city. The trio led the crowd in a “four stars on our shirt” chant, the Orange County mayor and commissioners also proclaimed July 16, 2019 Orlando Pride World Champions day, they popped confetti-filled champagne bottles, Marc Skinner snag we are the champions, and everyone had a good time welcoming them home.

Don’t forget you can see all the World Cup players from the Orlando Pride this Saturday, as they take on Sky Blue FC. Tickets are only $9. Come on, Reign FC sold out their single-match tickets for their homecoming match.

Orlando City B Players Honored

Juliano Chade made five saves to keep Orlando City B in the game against the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in Week 16 before a late equalizer was blasted by the hosts. His performance earned him a spot on the USL League One Team of the Week.

Additionally, Tresor Mbuyu has been nominated for Goal of the Week, and Christian Herrera for Save of the Week.

Free Kicks

That will do it for me today, Mane Landers! Hope the rest of your week goes as smoothly as possible. Don’t forget to go snag those Orlando Pride tickets!
