Orlando City B vs Lansing Ignite FC: Preview and How to Watch

Orlando City B (3-14-4, 13 points) returns home to Montverde Academy tonight looking to break a five-game losing streak. Standing in the Young Lions’ way is Lansing Ignite FC.

OCB is in the midst of its toughest stretch in the team’s three-year history. Since the team’s four-game point streak, which ended on June 12, the Young Lions have accumulated only one point in their last 10 games. That run of games includes a pair of losses to the same team they welcome tonight.

The young OCB team seems destined to finish at the bottom of the table this season, sitting in dead last in USL League One. The Young Lions are still eight points behind the ninth-place Richmond Kickers despite having played three more games.

Lansing is in the opposite position of the Young Lions. Ignite FC enters this game on a seven-game unbeaten streak and on a two-game winning streak. The run has launched them from mid-table to within two points of the league leaders, North Texas SC. Tonight’s visitors are led by Robinson Moshobane, who has scored in each of the team’s last two games. Those two goals placed him atop Lansing’s goal-scoring leaders list with five.

In addition to Moshobane, who claimed a goal and an assist in the last meeting, the Young Lions have been undone by super-sub Kyle Carr. The midfielder graduated from Melbourne High School, attended the Orlando City Development Academy, and played at Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne. He came on as a second-half sub in both games in Michigan, assisting on a goal in each game.

This game will mark the end of the team’s only back-to-back home-and-home series this season. The most recent time OCB took the field was Aug. 3 in Michigan. It was all Lansing in that game. The hosts took the lead in the eighth minute through Moshobane. Six minutes later, Moshobane set up Elma N’For for Lansing’s second goal. While the hosts dominated nearly every stat, the 84th-minute goal by Rafael Mentzingen was the nail in the coffin.

After falling 2-0 in the first meeting and 3-0 in the latest contest, this will be the third and final time these two teams meet as OCB looks to claim a game in the season series.
