Orlando Pride vs. Washington Spirit Game Rescheduled for October 5

The Orlando Pride are scheduled to play the Washington Spirit this Saturday at home in Exploria Stadium, but that match has been rescheduled due to Hurricane Dorian. The club announced today that the National Women’s Soccer League will reschedule this match for Saturday, Oct. 5, with kickoff at 5 p.m. — again at Exploria Stadium.

“Orlando Pride encourages all of those who may be impacted to make appropriate arrangements in preparation for Dorian. Exploria Stadium is not an approved emergency shelter and will not be open to the public during the storm. For information on approved shelters, please contact your County.”

Although the storm is not scheduled to impact the match itself, it could create travel issues for the Spirit the day after the game. Additionally, many fans will be dealing with preparations for the storm’s arrival and may not have been able to attend as a result. The move to reschedule is the right one for all parties involved.

Current ticket holders will be able to use the same tickets for entry to the Oct. 5 match or trade them for one of the Pride’s remaining home matches on Sept. 11, or Oct. 12. To switch tickets for another match, fans will need to call  (855) ORL-CITY or email the club at tickets@orlandocitysc.com.

The rescheduling of the match allows the teams to play with their international players, as both teams would have lost players to national team matches this weekend. Several of the marquee players from both teams are also injured, so they’ll have time to recover before the makeup date.

The match will be the third meeting of the year between the two sides, with each team winning at home in the first two match-ups.

Everyone here at The Mane Land hopes everyone stays safe and heeds any warnings.
