Orlando City B at Toronto FC II: Preview and How to Watch

With the home schedule now behind Orlando City B (3-17-4, 13 points), the Young Lions head out on the road where they will face Toronto FC II (6-9-8, 26 points). Having already secured last place in USL League One, the Young Lions will look to end an eight-game losing streak against the second-to-last team in the standings.

Last week, OCB spent nearly the entire first half defending against league leaders North Texas SC. Despite conceding over 70% possession, the team somehow was able to stay within a goal at halftime. After falling behind in the 22nd minute, Brandon John pulled one back early in the second half. The visitors responded less than a minute later to take a 2-1 lead. A 70th-minute penalty by Ronaldo Damus sealed the 3-1 win for FC Dallas’ developmental side.

This afternoon, OCB heads north of the border where it will take on another developmental side — this time of Toronto FC. Sitting just above OCB in the standings, TFC II comes into this meeting having drawn three of its last four. The only game Toronto has lost in its last four was a 2-0 loss away to North Texas.

The young Reds are led offensively by 18-year-old Toronto native Jordan Perruzza. His 10 goals this year are double that of the next top scorer. Setting up the teenager is Toronto FC academy product Luca Petrasso. The 19-year-old has created a team-leading 32 chances in his 21 games.

This will be the third and final time these two developmental sides face off this season, though they haven’t seen each other since May. The first game between these two young teams occurred at Montverde Academy, with the visitors winning 2-0. They met again a little over a month later but this time a Moises Tablante goal and Thiago Souza penalty lifted the Young Lions to a 2-0 win. That game started a three-game home winning streak and four-game unbeaten streak. Unfortunately, the Young Lions have only gained one point since that short streak ended.

While neither of these teams will be playing in the postseason, they’ll be looking to end their seasons with a positive run. That starts this afternoon when they face off north of the border.
