Exploria Stadium Selected to Host USMNT vs. Canada in Concacaf Nations League Match

Exploria Stadium will see the return of the United States Men’s National Team as Orlando hosts a Concacaf Nations League home match on Nov. 15 against Canada at 7 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN2, UniMas and TUDN.

Orlando City CEO Alex Leitão said in a press release that the club is eager to have the USMNT back in the purple palace.

“It’s an honor every time we have the privilege to host U.S. Soccer at Exploria Stadium, especially in games that have competitive importance like this Concacaf Nations League match. We are excited to yet again showcase the incredible soccer supporters we have here in Orlando and put our beautiful stadium on global display. We can’t wait for an exciting battle between the U.S. Men’s National Team and Canada, and to perhaps see some of our Lions out there, as well.”

This is the fourth time Orlando has hosted the USMNT and the third time at the venue now known as Exploria Stadium. The first was a 1-0 win against Sweden way back in 1998 in the Citrus Bowl. The second Orlando match, and the first in what was then known as Orlando City Stadium, was the 4-0 win against Panama in 2017 World Cup qualifying. Most recently, the USMNT defeated Ecuador 1-0 in Orlando in Gregg Berhalter’s third match on March 21. The win over Ecuador was a friendly.

The Yanks will look to get back on track against their Concacaf opponents. Of course there’s every possibility that several Orlando City players will make an appearance with Will Johnson, Tesho Akindele, and Kamal Miller all eligible to be called up for Canada. Former Lions Cyle Larin, and Richie Laryea are also potential call-ups.

Tickets go on sale Sept. 27 to the general public through the Ticketmaster website. This continues a line of big events hosted by Exploria Stadium since it opened in 2017. In addition to the USMNT matches mentioned above, Exploria Stadium has hosted the 2019 MLS All-Star Game, multiple MLS Player Combines, the 2017 NCAA Women’s College Cup, the 2017 NWSL championship game, the 2018 SheBelieves Cup, and the Florida Cup and other international club friendlies. In addition, the venue will host its first ever college football game this December, as the Cure Bowl comes to Exploria Stadium on Dec. 21.
