Orlando City B at Greenville Triumph SC: Preview and How to Watch

Orlando City B (3-19-4, 13 points) heads to South Carolina for the second time this season to take on Greenville Triumph SC (12-7-7, 43 points). The Young Lions will be looking to break a 10-game losing streak.

OCB’s current struggles continued last weekend as the team took on Chattanooga Red Wolves SC in Tennessee. The Young Lions had plenty of chances in the first half, including a pair of point-blank shots by Thiago Souza and Steven Hernandez that were saved. Sito Seoane gave the hosts the lead in the 34th minute but Leonardo Simas equalized just before the break. An early onslaught by Chattanooga in the second half allowed Tony Walls to score in the 54th minute. There were few chances by either team after that as OCB fell 2-1.

Tonight, OCB looks to break its losing streak once again though it will be against a tougher team. The Triumph have already secured a place in the 2019 USL League One playoffs, currently sitting in third with 43 points. While they’re already in the playoffs, they will have something to play for as they sit just three points behind Lansing Ignite FC for second. The team that finishes second will be guaranteed a home playoff game. While OCB enters this game on an extended skid, the Triumph have been hot recently, winning their last three games and four of their last five.

Offensively the Triumph are led by Jake Keegan, whose nine goals lead the team and rank him fourth in the league. The playmaker of the team has been Carlos Gómez who is second on the team in goals scored with six and has created a team-leading 35 chances. He also leads the team in assists with five on the year.

While the team has been in the middle of the league when it comes to offensive production, Greenville has been a leader defensively. The Triumph’s 18 goals conceded this season is the lowest number in USL League One, while their 13 clean sheets top the league. That defensive effort will be tough to overcome for an OCB team that ranks last in goals scored, with 22 this season.

This will be the third and final time that OCB takes on Greenville this season. The first meeting came on June 28 when the Triumph downed the Young Lions 2-0 at Montverde Academy. They met again on July 13 in Greenville. An extended lightning delay put a halt to things during the first half but they continued on with the hosts winning 1-0.

Making things a little more difficult tonight will be the absence of regular right back Simas. He was issued a pair of yellow cards last weekend and will serve his suspension in Greenville.
