Good morning, Mane Landers, and a happy Wednesday to you! It’s already been a crazy week for me, here’s hoping it slows down a bit. Let’s get to the links.

Miller Making the Most of His Opportunities

Rookie defender Kamal Miller didn’t take long to settle into his role on the team.

“Playing a rookie on opening day of the season says enough,” Miller said. “It’s been great knowing that the boss and the organization believe in me. It’s an honor. I enjoy it. It’s what I dreamed of.”

Miller has since started in 13 matches, moving to left back to take over when João Moutinho suffered injuries. However, it’s his time with the Canadian Men’s National Team that has been a huge highlight for the season.

“[I’m] building my confidence, that belief in myself that I can play at this level,” Miller said. “There’s been moments where I’ve been really good, and there’s been moments where I’ve been hesitant. I’m learning to play free and not worry about the consequences.”

Two Lions Make Canada’s Roster vs. the USMNT

Canada Soccer has named the squad for the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League match in Toronto on Oct. 15. Orlando City’s Will Johnson and Kamal Miller have been called up for the match. Tesho Akindele did not get the call up this time around.

“It’s a great opportunity for the fans to unite around this team and a big moment for the team to test themselves against one of the best in Concacaf,” said head coach, John Herdman. “We know the quality of the USA and the history of results in the last two decades, but with the fans behind us we can work together to change that narrative in October and November.”

The teams will meet against Nov. 15 at Exploria Stadium.

Ashlyn Harris Wins NWSL Save of the Week

The fans voted in an online poll and Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris walks away with the NWSL Save of the Week for her stoppage time save on Sunday at Sky Blue FC. The save was a bit controversial as there are those who felt Harris should have conceded a penalty for grabbing Elizabeth Eddy and pulling her down. A foul on Eddy before the takedown for contact with Harris nullified that and the entire play came well after the final whistle should have gone. Nonetheless it’s another win for Harris.

Orlando City B Players Make USL League One Team of the Week

With a win over Greenville, Orlando City B players were recognized on the USL League One Team of the Week. Goalkeeper Juliano Chade had a four-save shutout and handled eight recoveries. Defender Randy Mendoza won seven of nine duels, recorded nine clearances, recorded an interception, and had a 67% pass rating. Congratulations to both for making TotW.

That's going to do it for me this morning, Mane Landers. I hope the rest of the week is kind to you as we head toward the weekend and we can finally put this season to rest.
