Orlando SeaWolves Shut Out 7-0 at Home by the Baltimore Blast

KISSIMMEE, FL — The Orlando SeaWolves continue their losing streak — now at five games — after a 7-0 defeat to the Baltimore Blast at Silver Spurs Arena. Orlando is now just 1-10 for the 2019-2020 MASL season, while the Blast improved to 7-6.

In the third meeting between the teams this season, the Blast got off to a hot start with three goals in the first period. The first was scored by former SeaWolves defender Richard Schmermund to put the Blast ahead 1-0. A few minutes later, another former Orlando player made it 2-0 as Victor France came back to haunt his old team. Later in the first period, defender Ibrahima Keita, scored to put Baltimore up 3-0. Tony Donatelli buried one past SeaWolves goalkeeper Fernando Cortes to put the Blast up 4-0 in the second and that’s the way the first half finished.

After the break, the SeaWolves were able to hold the Blast scoreless until the last second of the third period when Donatelli passed the ball to Jamie Thomas, who converted and put the Blast up 5-0 to end the period. In the fouth period Jonatas Melo added two more insurance goals to put this one away for the Blast.

he SeaWolves offense was unable to find the back of the net as the SeaWolves were shut out for the first time in franchise history. After the match, SeaWolves Head Coach Tom Traxler described his teams performance, as “a bad night for us.”

Despite losing all five games since his return to the bench, Traxler still encouraged his players to “keep their head up” and said he feels his players want to improve.

The SeaWolves’ next match will be next Thursday at home against the San Diego Sockers. This will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs.
