Lion Links
Lion Links: 6/6/20
Hello, Mane Landers. I hope everyone is having a healthy and safe weekend. I’ve just been busy with schoolwork, catching up on shows, and plan to catch up with friends in Celebration tomorrow. Don’t forget to check out the Orlando City Classic against D.C. United tonight at 7:30 p.m. Now, on to the links.
USL League One Intends to Return July 18
Orlando City B soccer will return. The USL League One’s Board of Governors voted on Friday in favor of the returning to play, with a provisional start date of July 18. This is great news for the third division league and means OCB will play this season. According to the league statement, the competition format, scheduling, broadcasting, and other details will be announced in the coming weeks. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, OCB has missed out on 15 of its 28 games this season and we’ll have to wait and see how those are made up.
Daryl Dike Calls for Change
Orlando City SC forward Daryl Dike shared his thoughts on Instagram about growing up black and the need for everyone to do their part to make a difference during the protests against racism and police brutality.
I agree with Daryl completely that it’s up to all of us to do our part as well as listen. With many athletes speaking out against racism and injustice, I’m hopeful change will come for the better.
Alanna Kennedy Helps Her Community
The Orlando Pride’s Alanna Kennedy went to help out her community in Australia. The defender packed food at the Addison Road Community Centre in Sydney and encourages anyone to donate during these challenging times.
The legendary, free kick exponent extraordinaire, @TheMatildas @AlannaKennedy recently came down to @addi_road to get involved & do good along with her @SydneyFC teammate @allygreeen 💜👊 a champion athlete + caring human 🙏 Thanks Alanna @ORLPride @thepfa #PlayForLives pic.twitter.com/4qYnNiJn24
