Worldwide Pride: Taylor Kornieck Makes Her Pro Debut and Other Orlando Pride News

on

It was a mixed week for Orlando Pride players abroad. Some got wins, others not so much. There are positives with players getting more minutes. Alex Morgan, of course, did not yet feature for Spurs, but just about everybody else was in action last week. There are no matches next week for any of the Pride players.

Below is how all of the players abroad did this past week:

Claire Emslie (Everton — England), Alanna Kennedy (Tottenham — England), Shelina Zadorsky (Tottenham — England), Alex Morgan (Tottenham — England)

A couple of Pride players played against each other this past week, and all three of them started for their respective teams. Emslie was subbed out at halftime, while Kennedy and Zadorsky played the full 90 minutes. Everton won 1-0 off a 51st-minute Isobel Christiansen goal. Morgan was not on the game day roster, which is not surprising considering quarantining and needing to get into match fitness.

Emily van Egmond (West Ham United — England)

It was a game to remember for West Ham for the wrong reasons as the Hammers were destroyed by Arsenal, 9-1. Van Egmond did not start but she entered the match at the start of the second half.

Taylor Kornieck (MSV Duisburg — Germany)

Kornieck started and played the full 90 minutes in her first match available in Germany. MSV Duisburg lost to Leverkusen 2-0 on Friday with goals in the 89th minute and stoppage time. Although her team fell late, Kornieck was a force in the air.

Camila (SE Palmeiras — Brazil)

The Brazilian got the start and played 75 minutes in Palmeiras’ 2-2 draw against Sao Jose. Palmeiras sits in sixth place through nine matches.

Ali Riley (FC Rosengård — Sweden)

It was a rare game that Riley did not start. However, she came off the bench in the 69th minute and helped Rosengård to a 3-0 victory over Kif Orebro. Rosengard now sits in first place. She has been very impressive so far as seen in the tweet below.

Phoebe McClernon (Växjö DFF — Sweden)

Two weeks ago, Vaxjo ended its five-match losing streak. The club then followed that up with a 3-1 victory over Umea this past week. McClernon started and played the full 90. The win moved Vaxjo up to 11th place, but the team remains in the relegation zone.

Emily Sonnett (Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC — Sweden)

Sonnett did not get the start over in Sweden. However, she did make a bench appearance this past week. Sonnett entered in the 72nd minute of Goteborg’s 3-0 win over Djurgarden.

Erin McLeod (Ungmennafélag Stjarnan — Iceland)

Stjarnan had two matches last week and lost them both. On Wednesday the team fell 3-1 to Breidablik, and then 3-0 to Valur on Sunday. McLeod started in both matches.

Carson Pickett (Apollon Ladies FC — Cyprus)

The Cyprus women’s football league got started last week and Apollon won 9-0 against Ermis Apollon. Pickett was not on the game day roster.

Jade Moore (Atletico Madrid — Spain)

Atletico Madrid currently do not have any matches scheduled.
