Worldwide Pride: Emslie Bags a Brace and Other Orlando Pride News

Phoebe McClernon continued her hot run of form this past week, as well as Emily Sonnett. But the best Orlando Pride player abroad was Claire Emslie. Emslie’s Everton side beat up on Aston Villa and the winger earned herself a brace. Alex Morgan still has yet to make her debut for Spurs, but she was on the bench and is getting closer.

Below is how all of the players abroad did this past week:

Claire Emslie (Everton — England)

Everton dismantled Aston Villa over the weekend, winning 6-0. Emslie started and played the full 90 minutes. She also finished the match with a brace and an assist. Everton next takes on Emily van Egmond and West Ham on Sunday.

Alanna Kennedy (Tottenham — England), Shelina Zadorsky (Tottenham — England), Alex Morgan (Tottenham — England)

Morgan still did not make her debut yet. However, both Kennedy and Zadorsky started for Spurs as Tottenham lost to Manchester City 4-1. Kennedy was a force on the defensive end with six interceptions and 12 duels won, and she also was accurate on 75% of her passes. Zadorsky had four interceptions and two clearances. Spurs will next take on Manchester United on Saturday.

Emily van Egmond (West Ham United — England)

West Ham faced Reading on Sunday and lost 1-0 thanks to a 26th-minute goal from Lauren Bruton. Van Egmond started the match and played the full 90 minutes.

Taylor Kornieck (MSV Duisburg — Germany)

Kornieck came on at the start of the second half for Duisburg. The match ended without any goals, though, as Duisburg drew SC Freiburg 0-0.

Camila (SE Palmeiras — Brazil)

It was another double game week for Palmeiras. First Palmeiras drew Gremio 0-0 on Thursday. Then, they lost 3-1 to Internacional on Monday. With just one point in those two matches, Palmeiras sits in seventh place with 24 points.

Ali Riley (FC Rosengård — Sweden)

Rosengard tied Linkoping 2-2 on Saturday. With back-to-back draws, Rosengard dropped in the table to second place. Riley started the match but played only 56 minutes. She finished with three interceptions, five tackles, and eight recoveries.

Phoebe McClernon (Växjö DFF — Sweden)

McClernon continued her hot run of form in Vaxjo’s 2-1 defeat against Djurgarden. McClernon played the full 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card after the half-hour mark. While she did well, as is evident in the graphic below, the biggest number that jumps out is her 12 recoveries.

Emily Sonnett (Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC — Sweden)

Sonnett also had an excellent week. Göteborg beat Umea 2-0 and moved into the top spot in the standings. Sonnett was one of the best players in the match, especially in possession, where she had the most passes (80) and most successful passes (70) in the match. She also made seven recoveries, won six of 12 challenges and two of three tackle attempts, and made four interceptions. Goteborg will look to build on its first place status when it takes on last place Uppsala on Sunday.

Erin McLeod (Ungmennafélag Stjarnan — Iceland)

McLeod got another start as Stjarnan drew Fylkir 1-1.

Carson Pickett (Apollon Ladies FC — Cyprus)

The Apollon Ladies beat Nea Salamina 3-0 yesterday. Pickett did not feature.

Jade Moore (Atletico Madrid — Spain)

Atletico Madrid got its season underway and beat Espanyol 2-0. Moore did not start but she entered the match in the 63d minute. Both of the goals came in the first half, but Moore was able to come in and help see out the victory. Atletico Madrid will take on Granadilla Tenerife on Saturday.
