Orlando Pride’s Schedule Announced for 2024 NWSL Season
Learn who, where, and when the Orlando Pride will play this year.
The National Women’s Soccer League schedule was released this afternoon, telling us who, where, and when the Orlando Pride will play this year. The 2024 season once again includes a balanced schedule with each team playing the other 13 teams once at home and once away. However, the addition of the Utah Royals and Bay FC means it will be a 26-game schedule, an increase of two games from last year. Additionally, the Challenge Cup has been changed from a league-wide tournament to a Super Cup this year, so the Pride will not be taking part.
The Pride will open the season on the road, facing Racing Louisville FC on Saturday, March 16 at 4 p.m. The home opener is the following week against Angel City FC, taking place on Friday, March 22 at 8 p.m. Like last year, the season will end with simultaneous kickoffs but later in the year. The Pride’s Decision Day matchup will be at home with the renamed Seattle Reign FC on Saturday Nov. 2 at 5 p.m.
It won’t take long for the Pride to get involved with the NWSL’s new streaming deal with Amazon Prime Video. The team’s first game on the platform will be the home opener against Angel City. The club will also televise select regular-season games for the second consecutive season with information about those games coming at a later date.
This summer, the Summer Olympics will take place in Paris from July 26 to Aug. 11. Since the women’s tournament is a senior competition, the NWSL will take an extended break during that time. The Pride’s last game before the Olympics will be on Saturday, July 6 in Kansas City and they’ll return on Friday, Aug. 23 in Houston.
The Pride’s longest homestand this season will take place early in the year, with Orlando playing three games at home between May 1 and May 11 against the North Carolina Courage, Racing Louisville FC, and Bay FC. The longest road trip this year will also be three games, occurring from June 30 to Aug. 23 against Angel City FC, the Kansas City Current, and the Houston Dash (split by the Olympic break).
The most common day the Pride will play this year will be on Friday (12 times), including five consecutive Friday games early in the season. They’ll play seven Sunday games, six Saturday games, and one Wednesday night contest.
Most months will be split pretty evenly for the team this year, except for May and June. The Pride will play four games at home in May, with one on the road. In June, they’ll play three games away from home and once in Orlando.
With the addition of two new teams, the NWSL is expanding the playoff format this year to include eight teams. Unlike last year, there will not be any byes into the semifinals. Instead, all eight teams will play in the quarterfinal round on the weekend of Nov. 9-10. The NWSL Championship will take place on Nov. 23.
This year, 121 NWSL games will be available on various platforms. Friday night games will be available on Prime Video and Saturday night doubleheaders will be available on the ION network. Additionally, CBS and ESPN will have games on their numerous stations and streaming platforms. The league’s remaining games will take place on NWSL+, a free direct-to-customer streaming platform launched by the league this season.
