The Pride welcome CF Pachuca to Orlando in a game that will decide who moves on to the Concacaf W Champions Cup semifinals.
Welcome to your match thread as the Orlando Pride (2-1-0, 6 points) face CF Pachuca (2-1-0, 6 points) to see who advances to the Concacaf W Champions Cup semifinals.
Here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s game.
History
There’s no history between these two teams as they’ve never faced each other in any competition. The coaches haven’t coached in the other league and the majority of the players haven’t played in the opposing league. The one player with some familiarity with tonight’s opponent is Jacquie Ovalle, who played with Tigres UANL, facing Pachuca each year.
Overview
This is the last group game for the Pride and Pachuca and it all comes down to tonight. Only two of the five teams in the group advance to the semifinals next year and Club America secured the group win when they defeated the Pride 2-0 in Mexico City on Sept. 30.
The Pride got off to a great start, defeating LD Alajuelense 3-0 at home and Chorrillo FC 5-0 in Panama City. The game against Club America was for the top of the group. Unfortunately, the Pride were completely outplayed throughout the 90 minutes.
Pride Head Coach Seb Hines has played a team full of reserves in the first three games, giving his regulars a break to focus on the league. However, the loss in Mexico might force him to play first team players. That decision might also be easier since the Pride officially secured a playoff spot Sunday night.
Despite the loss in Mexico, the Pride have been flying high recently. They went on a nine-game winless run that started before the summer break, but have won two of their last three, winning 2-1 over San Diego Wave FC and 1-0 over the Portland Thorns. The game in between was a 1-1 draw with the Houston Dash. That should give the team some confidence going into this game, although the club still has work to do to secure a top four spot and a home game in the postseason.
CF Pachuca Femenil was founded in December 2016 and began play in 2017. The club got off to a great start, winning the Copa MX Femenil in 2017. Las Tuzas were league runners up in the 2017 Apertura, 2022 Clausura, and 2023 Clausura, before finally claiming their first league title in the 2025 Clausura. They followed that up with the 2025 Campeon de Campeones Cup for their third trophy in team history.
Pachuca has the advantage going into tonight. The Mexican side has a goal difference of +10 while the Pride only have a goal difference of +6. As a result, a draw would see Orlando exit the competition. Only three points will see the Pride continue on.
