Redding, Turner Make U.S. U-20 Provisional Roster
Orlando City SC center back Tommy Redding and right back Tyler Turner have been named to the United States U-20 provisional roster and could play in the upcoming 2015 CONCACAF U-20 championships. The final 20-man roster will be announced on Monday, Jan. 5.
Turner, 18, is also taking part in a 21-man training camp in Sunrise, FL, that started today and runs until Jan. 5. He would seem to have a better shot at cracking the final U-20 roster than Redding, Orlando City's first Homegrown Player. Redding is still just 17 years old and faces more competition at his position.
But injuries do occur and anyone from the 35-player provisional roster can be selected for Tab Ramos's squad for the CONCACAF U-20 championships.
"I am looking forward to our last camp leading into U-20 World Cup qualifying, and there will be some very difficult selections in what we think is a very competitive, deep and united pool of players," said Ramos in a press release from U.S. Soccer. "They have performed well together over the past 18 months."
