Orlando City 2015 Full MLS Schedule Released

Orlando City's jump from USL Pro side to MLS club has never seemed so real.

MLS released its official schedule today and now we know exactly who, where and when the Lions will play their inaugural season in the league. It was a little anti-climactic after Tuesday's leaked home schedule, but it's nice to have official confirmation and a whole slate of road games for trip-planning purposes, isn't it?

We’ve long known about the home opener on March 8 against fellow expansion club New York City FC at 5 p.m. on ESPN2. The Lions will next be home on Saturday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Orlando City will be Montreal Impact’s home opener on March 28 and return home April 3 to play D.C. United at 7 p.m.

The first MLS road game in Orlando City SC history will be at Houston Dynamo on Friday, March 13. The club will play a July 4 game at Real Salt Lake at 10 p.m. ET and close its inaugural MLS season at Philadelphia on Oct. 25.

In addition to Vancouver, Orlando City will host Western Conference opponents L.A. Galaxy, Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, and Sporting Kansas City. The Lions will visit Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, San Jose Earthquakes, Real Salt Lake and Houston Dynamo, making for a tough inter-conference road schedule.

Orlando City will face six Eastern Conference opponents three times, hosting D.C. United, NYCFC and Columbus Crew twice each, and visiting Toronto FC, Montreal Impact and Chicago Fire twice. The club will play the remaining Eastern Conference twice – home and away.

The Lions will host seven Saturday games, six Sunday games, three on Friday and one on Wednesday. There are two home dates in March and April, three in May, two in June and July, three in August, just one in September and two in October.

Club sources told me individual game tickets will be available for purchase in late January or early February.

Preseason Brazil Trip Canceled

Speaking of scheduling, the Orlando Sentinel's Paul Tenorio reported today that the club has scrapped its planned preseason trip to Brazil due to scheduling conflicts. Instead, the team will train in Orlando at its Sylvan Lake Park facility, playing several closed-door scrimmages before heading to Charleston, S.C. for the Carolina Challenge Cup tournament in late February.
