Orlando City Sells Out Citrus Bowl for Opener vs. New York City FC

Orlando City SC has filled the bowl.

The club announced its opening game against New York City FC, set for 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, is a sellout. The Lions have been implementing their #FillTheBowl campaign to sell out the Citrus Bowl with more than 60,000 fans for the opener and they have accomplished that mission.

The only remaining tickets for Sunday's game are a limited number of lower bowl seats set aside for season ticket sales. As a result of the brisk ticket sales, Kickoff Week festivities will no longer include a match ticket for the NYCFC game with the price of admission.

In addition, the club announced that its second home game against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, March 21, is also nearing a sellout, although the upper bowl will not be available for purchase for that match.

"Today we demonstrate how Orlando City and the City Beautiful continue to defy expectations," said Club President and Founder Phil Rawlins in a press release. "We're humbled by the response of our supporters, partners and community. Today we also kick off an exuberant celebration leading into our historic home opener and inaugural season. The excitement is palpable throughout the city and we're thrilled to see all our hard work come to fruition. Come March 8, we will turn the broadcast purple and show the nation why we are the 'Soccer Capital of the South.' "
