Watson Suspended, Heath Fined for Entering Pitch Sunday vs. New York City FC

Orlando City SC will be shorthanded on the sidelines tomorrow night as Assistant Coach Mark Watson has been suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for entering the field of play in the 91st minute on Sunday against New York City FC.

In addition, Head Coach Adrian Heath will have a lighter wallet, as the gaffer is also being fined for stepping onto the pitch in the 54th minute of the game.

What happened in the 54th minute to cause Heath to step onto the field? Let's go to our play-by-play from the event.

This was not an insignificant yellow card. With Rivas's speed, the Colombian could have had a breakaway to open the scoring. There were defenders who may have had an angle to cut him off if he took a heavy touch on the ball, but otherwise it looked like a clear-cut goal scoring opportunity.

Perhaps the only things that saved Jason Hernandez from being sent off is that Rivas did not possess the ball, although he certainly would have been first to it, and that it was unclear if the other defenders could have recovered in time to get between the Orlando City attacker and the goal.

What about Watson?

Well, Kaká's goal happened in the 91st minute. Could he have been celebrating? Or was he on the pitch seconds earlier to argue about the foul that took out Kevin Molino and led to the Brazilian's equalizing free kick? I was honestly not looking at the sidelines and didn't even notice.

Either way, Watson will have to sit this one out with Aurelien Collin.

Per MLS policy, the amount of the fines to Heath and Watson were undisclosed.
