Jamaica vs. Canada, Costa Rica vs. El Salvador: Gold Cup 2015 – How to Watch, TV & Live Stream and More

Welcome to your 2015 Gold Cup open thread, as Cyle Larin and Darwin Ceren from your beloved Orlando City Lions are still searching for their first victories in the tournament. Canada and El Salvador played to an unfortunate 0-0 draw on Wednesday, due in part to this howler of a miss by Larin.

Seriously, I hurt for this kid every time I see it.

Larin's Canada will square off against Jamaica at 6:30 p.m. and Ceren's El Salvador will follow against Costa Rica at 9 p.m. at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston tonight. Group B is in shambles after both of Wednesday's matches ended in draws. The Reggae Boyz of Jamaica surprised Costa Rica with a 2-2 draw in their opener.

Costa Rica and Jamaica are thought to be the class of this group, so any kind of result for Larin's or Ceren's side tonight will be critical in reaching the knockout stage.

The last time Canada met Jamaica in the Gold Cup came in Group A play on July 3, 2009. Ali Gerba's goal in the 75th minute gave the Canadians a 1-0 victory. Canada topped the group with a 2-0-1 record.

That 2009 Group A was identical to this year's Group B in terms of the four teams involved. Costa Rica (1-1-1) advanced as the runner-up, while both El Salvador and Jamaica finished 1-0-2 and were eliminated.

El Salvador last met Costa Rica in the Gold Cup in group play on June 9, 2011, earning a 1-1 draw. In fact, if Randall Brenes hadn't scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time, El Salvador would have won. Rodolfo Zelaya scored for the Salvadorans. Can El Salvador pull the upset this time?

Match Thread Rules:

This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you're new, welcome to our happy home! While you're here, please observe a few basic rules:

  • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
  • Try not to be “that guy” who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It’s ok to be critical, and, let’s face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch, but being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
  • Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players / officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • Do unto others in the match thread, the way you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it this way. We have a moderator, but we’d rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
  • Finally, we don’t have a rule against profanity but don’t abuse the non-rule. Also, any language that is sexist, racist, or homophobic in nature will be swiftly deleted and you may lose posting privileges. We’re all in this together.
