Orlando City Captain Kaká Named to Major League Soccer All-Star Fan XI
Orlando City captain Kaká has been named to the MLS All-Star Game Fan XI squad, becoming the first Lion to be named to an MLS All-Star team. While this does not guarantee he'll be selected to face EPL side Tottenham Hotspur in the MLS All-Star Game, he'll be in the pool of players for selection. So it's likely he'll be on hand Wednesday, July 29 at 9 p.m. ET at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO.
The All-Star Fan XI team was announced as part of tonight’s FOX Gold Cup coverage between the Honduras-Haiti and USMNT-Panama matches.
The Brazilian is fourth among Major League Soccer goal scorers with nine in 18 games. He also has two assists on the season and is 15th in the league in shots, with 41, and tied for sixth in shots on goal, with 19. City's central attacking midfielder has been among the league's best players this season and has largely carried the Lions' attack this season.
Orlando City’s talisman all season, Kaká has scored goals in three straight games and in seven of his last nine.
The 33-year-old was signed as Orlando City’s first Designated Player about a year ago and loaned to Sao Paulo in Brazil’s Serie A for the remainder of the 2014 season. The 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or winner scored the first goal for Orlando City as an MLS franchise on a stoppage time free kick against New York City FC in the season opener on March 8.
