Louisville City Update: Bryan Burke Scores as LCFC Wins Sixth Straight

Apparently the phrase, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,” does not apply to Louisville City. The Royals have sizzled their way to six straight victories right in the midst of the dog days of summer, including Saturday’s 3-2 road victory over Toronto FC II, and have put themselves squarely in the running of a heated race for first place in USL.

Led by former Orlando City right back Bryan Burke, Louisville City came from behind on the road for the second straight match behind a fifth goal of the season from Kadeem Dacres, and first goals from both Niall McCabe and Burke.

After leading goal scorer and captain Matt Fondy missed a clear chance in the early going, the home side would take the lead via Molham Babouli in the 21st minute. Louisville answered in the 58th when Dacres snuck one into the far corner of Quillan Roberts‘ net. Louisville added two more in the 67th and 73rd minutes before Toronto tacked on their second in the 81st due to a botched save attempt by usually sound Louisville goalkeeper Scott Goodwin.

The victory moves Louisville City to within five points of Rochester — whose undefeated season was halted this weekend — for first place in the Eastern Conference, as well as the overall lead in the USL. Louisville City will next take on FC Montreal on Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. Kickoff for the match, which pits the second place team in USL against the team tied for second-to-last place, will be at 7:30.

USL Lions Square Off

In a match-up of Orlando City loanees in USL, Sidney Rivera hosted newly loaned Lion Tommy Redding at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh on Saturday. Rivera’s Riverhounds beat Redding’s Wilmington Hammerheads 3-0, behind a hat trick from USL co-leading goal scorer Rob Vincent.

Redding received his first start for the Hammerheads and played the full 90 minutes with one shot, which wasn't on target. Rivera, however, went unused for the home side.
