Orlando City Sells Out 18,000 Season Tickets for 2016

Orlando City has sold out its allotment of 18,000 season tickets for the 2016 MLS season and those wishing to purchase season packages will be wait listed. Orlando City ranks among the top three teams in MLS, and among only four clubs with an established waitlist.

Current season ticket members who have not yet renewed may do so by the Sept. 15 deadline.

"Our fans are the best in all of professional sports," said Orlando City Founder and President Phil Rawlins in a press release. "We knew demand was extremely high following our inaugural MLS season but we are once again humbled by the massive response from fans for 2016. In just 18 days since we unveiled the new stadium renderings, we have sold the entire 2016 season ticket inventory, which speaks volumes about the incredible passion of our fans. Orlando truly is the 'Soccer Capital of the South.' Any current Season Ticket Members yet to renew, I encourage you to do so before the deadline to keep your seats."

The club originally capped season tickets at 14,000 for 2015 but announced on July 15 that season ticket capacity would be expanded to 18,000, due in large part to a wait list already at 2,000 fans and a bigger than originally intended downtown soccer stadium. Orlando City announced the stadium would be privately funded back on May 29 and that capacity would increase from 19,500 to somewhere between 25,000 and 28,000.

On July 31, the club unveiled renderings of the new stadium and announced the capacity would be 25,500. The stadium's completion is expected near the end of the 2016 MLS season.

"Get your season tickets early," Rawlins warned back in July. "That is the cheapest way to watch the games and obviously the best way to reserve your seat."

That was a prophetic statement from Rawlins, as City has already sold out of season tickets with more than half a year to go before the club embarks on its sophomore season in Major League Soccer.

So those who haven't purchased yet will have to wait to become season ticket members and/or fight for individual game tickets.
