2016 NWSL Draft: Orlando Pride Select Santa Clara Midfielder Dani Weatherholt
The theme the Orlando Pride had for the NWSL draft continued at the start of the fourth and final round as Head Coach Tom Sermanni selected another player from the West Coast in Santa Clara Midfielder Dani Weatherholt. All three players selected today by the Pride went to California schools.
The 5-foot-8 Weatherholt started 22 games for the Broncos in 2015, scoring three goals with two assists. Two of the goals were game winners, plus she converted once from the spot as well in her sole attempt. In her final season, she was Third Team All-West Region, First Team All-WCC, NSCAA Scholar Second Team All-West Region and WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Here's Weatherholt giving a tour on the Broncos facilities.
With only three midfielders on the roster coming into the draft, the Pride added two players for more depth in that position.
