Nearly 40 Orlando City Youth Soccer Players Commit on National Signing Day
Today was a huge day for Orlando City’s academy today, as nearly 40 players from Orlando City Youth Soccer (OCYS) announced their universities of choice as part of the NCAA’s annual National Signing Day.
For the third consecutive year, the club hosted a special ceremony to recognize these student athletes and to honor their commitment to their schools of choice. The ceremony was held at the Lake Mary Mariott and OCYS athletes committed to schools far and wide, including local Rollins College, which received three commitments, the University of Miami, the University of Florida, the University of North Carolina, and other fine schools.
"We couldn't be prouder of each player who pledged their commitments today, as it takes an incredible amount of hard work and dedication to get to the next level," said OCYS Girls' Academy Director Alan Hough in a club press release. "From a club perspective, we're pleased with the number of players who have signed with various colleges today. To have nearly 40 players on National Signing Day for the third year in a row displays that OCYS is fully focused on not only preparing players for the professional level, but also for the collegiate ranks as well. We look forward to building on this for many years to come."
Some of these athletes may come back after their collegiate careers to play professionally in Orlando City's system or for the Orlando Pride. Here are the commitments from today:
