Happy Tuesday, Mane Landers. Yesterday was a busy one since we are only days away from the 2016 Orlando City MLS home opener, so let's dive on in…but let's make sure we wish OCB defender Zach Ellis-Hayden a happy 24th birthday.
Stadium Taking Shape
After months of just staring at an empty lot, Orlando City fans now have something that they can actually see when it comes to the construction of the new stadium. Yesterday saw the first stadium milestone when steel beams were hoisted into place to start construction of the north end of the stadium. Fans will also have a chance to be a part of the new stadium at this week's Kickoff Week events when a purple steel beam, which will be used in the actual construction, will be making the rounds at the events for people to sign. Formation for Success
After the success of last weekend's game against Esporte Clube Bahia and the signing of Antonio Nocerino do Orlando City players see a formation change in the offing? Who knows? Regardless of what happens, El Salvadoran midfielder Darwin Cerén is more than ready to be a part of it, even if it means giving up his traditional DM role for the Lions. However, not everyone expects Cerén to be the man to push forward, with Nocerino more likely to play the tip of the arrow formation in midfield.
Alex Morgan, Writer?
One thing that you may not be aware of is that Alex Morgan, while doing everything else, including qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics and winning the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, also finds time to write children’s books. Her series, The Kicks, covers issues affecting middle graders and helps inspire youngsters to have the confidence to succeed. The book series has also been adapted into a live-action TV series by Amazon.
Rocha Raring to Go with His New Team
After seeing his previous team, the Austin Aztex, take a hiatus for the 2016 USL season due to stadium issues, new OCB midfielder Tony Rocha became a player in demand due to a strong showing in his rookie season. However, the 22-year-old, Texas-born Rocha didn't have to wait long for Orlando to come calling "They reached out to me as soon as the season was over, so it was kinda quick," Rocha told USLSoccer.com. After seeing his performances in preseason, it is no surprise that the Lions didn't wait too long, and expect Rocha to be one of those players on the fringe of the first team squad if injuries occur.
MLS Updates its App
If stats, videos, and real-time notifications are your thing then the new MLS app is certainly going to be something for you. With a new redesign, the new app has brought the best features to the forefront and is easier to use than ever before. MLS also announced that it will be producing more new content than ever before with Live: Week 1.
