Lloyd Scores Again, USWNT Destroys Colombia, 7-0

It might have been freezing cold in East Hartford, CT, but it didn't affect the red hot United States Women's National Team's offense as the Yanks blanked Colombia, 7-0.

Against a stingy Colombian defense which only surrendered two goals against the Americans in last summer's World Cup, the Alex Morgan-less U.S. broke the deadlock after 27 minutes through Crystal Dunn. The goal put Dunn on eight goals for the U.S. in 2016 and opened the flood gates for the Stars and Stripes.

Five minutes later, Allie Long, who hadn't played for the U.S. since 2014, scored her first international goal and teenage sensation Mallory Pugh scored her second career international goal just a minute later.

Up 3-0, the Americans continued to drive forward and star midfielder Carli Lloyd, who assisted on Pugh's goal, scored one of her own after 39 minutes. In one of the most astonishing goal scoring runs in U.S. soccer history, Lloyd has scored 24 goals in the last 23 matches since the U.S. and Colombia squared off last summer.

Up 4-0 at the half, the U.S. bagged three more after the intermission, with Long securing her brace, Tobin Heath adding the sixth and Christen Press putting a bow on the game with the seventh.

Unfortunately for Colombia, the teams play again on April 10 in Chester, PA.

According to U.S. Soccer, Alex Morgan sat out the game with a minor hip injury. Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris was an unused substitute.
