Orlando City at New England Revolution: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Open Thread and More

Welcome to your match thread for today’s meeting between Orlando City (2-2-3, 9 points) and the New England Revolution (1-2-6, 9 points). This is the second of three meetings scheduled between the two clubs this season, with the Revs returning to the Citrus Bowl on July 31.

The Revs drew Portland 1-1 on Wednesday and are winless in their last four matches (0-1-3) but have not lost at home (1-0-3) this season. Six draws have helped the Revolution pull even with Orlando in the Eastern Conference table although New England has played nine matches already. A draw is the best that the Lions have done so far against the Revs, including the controversial 2-2 draw a couple of weeks ago.

The teams met twice last season, with Orlando City rallying from a 2-0 deficit in the final 17 minutes to draw 2-2 at the Citrus Bowl last April. Cyle Larin and Aurelien Collin provided the goals for the Lions.

The Sept. 5 rematch at Gillette Stadium didn’t go as well, with New England taking a 3-0 win in a match that saw the Revs out-shoot Orlando, 21-8. Despite the lopsided shots and score, the Revolution led only 1-0 until the 84th minute against the short-handed Lions, who were without four key players — Kaká, Larin, Brek Shea and Darwin Ceren — in addition to having lost Kevin Molino early in the year. Diego Fagundez, Juan Agudelo and Chris Tierney scored for the Revs.

Speaking of injured Lions, Kaká is still on the mend and did not make the trip to New England on Friday. The captain had been training off to the side this week and has not yet been fully integrated back into team training. It is probably unwise to rush him back and risk aggravating the injury on the artificial turf of Gillette Stadium. Antonio Nocerino returns from his ridiculous one-game suspension for celebrating a goal three yards onto the pitch with Kevin Molino in the last meeting between these two teams. For the hosts, Charlie Davies and Chris Tierney are sidelined with knocks and Teal Bunbury may also be unavailable.
