Welcome to your match thread for tonight’s meeting between Orlando City (2-2-4, 10 points) and the New York Red Bulls (3-6-0, 9 points). This is the second of three scheduled meetings between these teams in 2016. New York won the first meeting 3-2 back on April 24. They’ll go at it again at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, July 13.

New York has won two straight games, with one of those being the aforementioned meeting with OCSC, but is 0-4-0 on the road his season. Orlando City is 1-0-3 at home and 0-2-2 in its last four overall.

The Lions and Red Bulls split their two match-ups last season, with each team winning on the road. New York captured the first meeting 2-0, after Cyle Larin was wrongly sent off on one of two cards drawn by Sacha Kljestan dives (a Cristian Higuita yellow being the other). Kljestan also scored the only goal New York would need, as the Lions couldn’t find the net despite keeping lots of pressure on the visitors. Mike Grella added a stoppage time dagger.

Orlando City won the return fixture in New York, 5-2, behind a Larin hat trick, setting an MLS rookie goal-scoring record in the process.

Orlando City should have captain Kaká back in the lineup tonight after he’s missed the last two matches with a groin injury. Kevin Molino may be unavailable after injuring his calf at New England but he isn’t expected to have a long-term problem. Pedro Ribeiro had back surgery this week and will be out for months. Luke Boden (hamstring) is also unavailable tonight.

Aurelien Collin makes his return to Camping World Stadium after his recent trade to the Red Bulls, which should make things even more interesting tonight if he gets the start.

Match Thread Rules

This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you’re new, welcome to our happy home! While you’re here, please observe a few basic rules:

  • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
  • Try not to be “that guy” who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It’s ok to be critical, and, let’s face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch, but being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
  • Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players / officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • Do unto others in the match thread, the way you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it this way. We have a moderator, but we’d rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
  • Finally, we don’t have a rule against profanity but don’t abuse the non-rule. Also, any language that is sexist, racist, or homophobic in nature will be swiftly deleted and you may lose posting privileges. We’re all in this together.
