It has been scientifically proven that losing is much worse than winning or even tying. Yet, here we are with Orlando City on a 0-3-3 skid in the last six matches and we may have (hopefully) seen the nadir with Sunday’s abysmal performance at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City. Despite a 2-1 score line, the Lions were completely pummeled by Sporting Kansas City, yielding 34 shots and failing to record even one shot on goal.
But, we’re here to talk you down from the ledge and to try to make sense of what we saw on Sunday. Mostly we saw a lot of Joe Bendik making saves. There were defensive problems, a lack of any attacking bite, and almost no link between the levels in the formation. We remain hopeful that the end of this skid is in sight.
On the other hand, the Pride is now a perfect 3-0 at home, outscoring opponents 6-1 after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Western New York Flash at Camping World Stadium on Saturday. We’ll review that game and Pride midfielder/forward Jasmyne Spencer stops by to talk about the fans, the winning, the road losses, and much more. Big thanks to Spencer, who has been one of the real bright spots for the Pride this season.
We also answer listener questions in our Ask The Mane Land segment, and give you our key match-ups and score predictions for Orlando City vs. Montreal Impact. Here’s the running order:
0:13- Let's talk about an ugly, ugly game and then never speak of it again. Let's also talk about the Pride and Alex Morgan's wondergoal.
29:40- Jasmyne Spencer stops by to tell us all about Pride supporters, winning at home against her former club and the looming four-game road swing.
45:04- Ask TML wants to know about Nocerino, plus our key match-ups and predictions for Saturday.
And hey, if you feel like doing us a solid, please give us a kind rating on iTunes and leave us some glowing feedback! Thanks for listening. We'll be back next week to recap the Montreal and Pride-Houston matches, and look ahead to our first Orlando City double game week of the season.
