Orlando City at LA Galaxy: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread and More

Welcome to your match thread for tonight’s meeting between Orlando City (7-7-13, 34 points) and the LA Galaxy (10-4-14, 44 points). This is the only scheduled match-up between the two clubs this season and the first at the StubHub Center after the Galaxy visited Orlando last season. The Lions enter on a two-game winning streak while LA is unbeaten in four (1-0-3) and has just one loss in the last 14 matches (5-1-8). The Galaxy actually have more draws than Orlando this season, with 14.

The Lions are 1-0 in the all-time MLS series, winning 4-0 last season in the stadium then known as the Citrus Bowl. You may recall that was Orlando City’s first home win in Major League Soccer in emphatic fashion in front of a huge crowd of more than 40,000. Eric Avila, Cyle Larin, Kaká, and Darwin Ceren scored the goals for Orlando that day and Tally Hall kept a clean sheet without having to do a whole lot. What seemed important at the time was that the game marked Martin Paterson’s Orlando City debut, as he came on as a second-half substitute. It turned out to not be important at all, but the win was.

“It was a special day all around,” said then-Orlando City coach Adrian Heath after the match.

Indeed, it was special, as was this Avila goal, which we’ll never forget:

The Lions will be bolstered by the return of internationals Larin and Kevin Molino. Both played Tuesday night for their countries, but that gives them each an extra day’s rest over Wednesday night’s lineup that won at Montreal. They’ll be needed, as the Galaxy have yet to lose at home this season (7-0-7). Oh, and they got some help this week from some guy named Landon Donovan coming out of retirement.

Cristian Higuita (hamstring) and Pedro Ribeiro (back surgery) are out for Orlando. Rafael Ramos couldn’t travel to Montreal due to immigration issues but should be available for tonight.

Match Thread Rules

This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you're new, welcome to our happy home! While you're here, please observe a few basic rules:

  • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
  • Try not to be "that guy" who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It's ok to be critical, and, let's face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch, but being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
  • Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players / officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • Do unto others in the match thread, the way you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it this way. We have a moderator, but we'd rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
  • Finally, we don't have a rule against profanity but don't abuse the non-rule. Also, any language that is sexist, racist, or homophobic in nature will be swiftly deleted and you may lose posting privileges. We're all in this together.
