This is the sweetest smelling Tuesday in a while, Mane Landers, as we finally have three points from the weekend to savor. However, it's also the last Tuesday before the end of the season, so this Tuesday is bittersweet. To make sure that the pain isn't too much you, we've got Lion Links to help you start your day right.
Orlando City's Off-season
The Lions finally returned to their winning ways against the Philadelphia Union on Sunday, however the game play was anything but beautiful and what we saw on the field was people playing for their jobs next season. However, Orlando City Head Coach Jason Kreis believes that the off-season may not involve burning the squad to the ground, but rather a minor overhaul. Let us know who you expect the Lions to dump this off-season and how you expect Kreis and the front office to build around the core.
Morgan's Moment
With the NWSL season all wrapped up and the league likely heading into a historic fifth year, USWNT and Orlando Pride superstar Alex Morgan has penned a letter to her younger self. It offers an insight into her growing up, and also shows how committed you have to be in the United States to the beautiful game while serving as a reminder that this game is a lifelong passion. It shows that as more and more younger players continue to retire from the league, something has to be done to make sure that the league continues beyond five seasons and doesn’t go the same way as WPS, especially with the rumors that 2014 and 2015 NWSL Champions FC Kansas City are up for sale.
USL Cup Final Set
Orlando City B may have lost in the first round of the USL playoffs, but we can rest easy knowing that we got beat by one of the best as our vanquishers made it to the final. New York Red Bulls II will take on Sporting Kansas City-owned Swope Park Rangers (who beat Vancouver Whitecaps 2) for the USL Championship at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
Garber Gabs
MLS has certainly undergone some major growth in recent years, with four new teams in three years and younger stars like Giovani dos Santos and Sebastian Giovinco coming to ply their trade in MLS. However, the man who has overseen all of the league’s growth still feels that MLS requires marquee players, whether they’re aging or not, to help prevent the train from slowing down. He also believes that players like Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger and striker Wayne Rooney would, and should, be welcomed with open arms to the league.
