USA vs. Romania International Friendly: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread and More

Welcome to your live thread for today’s friendly between the United States Women's National Team and Romania at Avaya Stadium in San Jose. It’s the first of two meetings between the two countries in the state of California during this international window. These will be the final two matches of 2016 for the U.S. women. The sides will meet again Sunday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA.

Jill Ellis continues to look at different players and this time that includes versatile Orlando Pride star Kristen Edmonds, the team’s Golden Boot winner. USWNT regulars Ashlyn Harris, Alex Morgan, and Ali Krieger will also represent the Pride.

This will be the first meeting between the two nations, with Romania set to become the 51st different country the USWNT will face. Currently 36th in FIFA’s world rankings, Romania finished second in its group in Euro qualifying, but lost its playoff due to the away goal rule after a pair of draws with Portugal.

The USWNT should handle these two friendlies and finish the calendar year unbeaten. The Yanks are 20-0-3 this year, with the penalty shootout loss in the Olympics counting officially as a draw despite feeling like a loss. Watch for Romania midfielder Ştefania Vătafu, who scoured four goals in eight matches during Euro qualifying. Other players to watch include forwards Alexandra Lunca and Laura Rus, and midfielders Adina Giurgiu and Andreea Voicu.

Notables missing for the U.S. include Carli Lloyd and Meghan Klingenberg.

Match Thread Rules

This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you're new, welcome to our happy home! While you're here, please observe a few basic rules:

  • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
  • Try not to be "that guy" who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It's OK to be critical, and, let's face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch, but being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
  • Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players / officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • Do unto others in the match thread, the way you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it this way. We have a moderator, but we'd rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
