Orlando City Center Back Seb Hines Out Six Weeks After Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

Orlando City’s back line depth took a hit late last week when veteran center back Seb Hines underwent surgery on his right knee. The club announced on its website today that Hines, 28, went under the knife on Thursday at Orlando Health for arthroscopic surgery in a procedure the club called “successful.”

The result is that the English defender will be out approximately six weeks, leaving youngsters Tommy Redding and Conor Donovan as the only cover for starters Jonathan Spector and Jose Aja.

"Seb's surgery went very smoothly and with no complications," Daryl C. Osbahr, MD, Chief of Sports Medicine at Orlando Health and team doctor told OrlandoCitySC.com. "We expect his recovery to go well and to have him back on the field as soon as possible."

The Wetherby, England native has been with Orlando City since before the club’s inaugural MLS game in 2015. He started 21 games in 23 appearances in 2015, scoring his first MLS goal – the game winner – in a pivotal 2-1 home victory over the Montreal Impact on Oct. 3, 2015. He was named to the MLS Team of the Week twice in the club’s inaugural season (Week 6 and 18).

Last year, Hines appeared in 26 games (23 starts, scoring three goals in 2,105 minutes.
