USA vs. Russia, International Friendly: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread and More
Welcome to your live thread for tonight's friendly between the United States Women's National Team and Russia at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX — home of FC Dallas. It’s the USWNT’s first action since a disappointing outing in the SheBelieves Cup in early March and the first step toward redemption for Jill Ellis’ side, which has slipped to No. 2 in the most recent FIFA world rankings.
The USWNT will be facing Russia for the ninth and 10th time overall. The Yanks are 7-0-1 against the Russians — all in friendly competition — with the only draw coming on Aug. 15, 2000, in College Park, MD. Russia is currently No. 25 in the FIFA world rankings and last qualified for the Women’s World Cup in 2003 — the second time the side has reached the tournament.
The last time the Russians came over was February of 2014, when they played two friendlies, both won by the U.S. The Yanks won 7-0 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, FL, and 8-0 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
The Russians are preparing for the 2017 UEFA Women’s Euro this summer in the Netherlands, where they’ll face stiff competition in Group B with Germany, Italy, and Sweden. They qualified for the tournament by finishing second behind Germany in Group 5 of the qualifying process.
Our Dan Garza already told you what to watch for in these two friendlies in a four-day span against the Russians. In addition, watch for possible caps for fresh, young faces, like 17-year-old midfielder Jaelin Howell and 16-year-old forward Sophia Smith — both of Real Colorado and members of the 2016 U.S. U-17 World Cup team. Among the regulars missing these two friendlies for the USWNT due to injury are Tobin Heath (back), Lindsay Horan (hip flexor), and Morgan Brian (knee). Defender Julie Johnston will also be unavailable due to taking her honeymoon.
The Orlando Pride will be represented by goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris, defender Ali Krieger, and forward Alex Morgan.

Match Thread Rules
This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you're new, welcome to our happy home! While you're here, please observe a few basic rules:
- Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
- Try not to be "that guy" who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It's OK to be critical, and, let's face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch, but being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
- Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players / officials. You never know who might be reading.
- Do unto others in the match thread, the way you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it this way. We have a moderator, but we'd rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
Enjoy the match. Go America!
