USA vs. Russia, International Friendly II: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread and More

Welcome to your live thread for today's second friendly match between the United States Women's National Team and Russia in four days — this time at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, home of the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash. The U.S. won Thursday’s meeting, 4-0, on the strength of braces by both Allie Long and Crystal Dunn.

Frankly, the Russians are probably flattered by that score line. Dunn was offside approximately 457 times and Long missed a penalty and two other sitters.

The USWNT will be facing Russia for 10^th time overall. The Yanks are 8-0-1 against the Russians — all in friendly competition — with the only draw coming on Aug. 15, 2000, in College Park, MD. Russia is currently No. 25 in the FIFA world rankings and last qualified for the Women’s World Cup in 2003 — the second time the side has reached the tournament.

The last time the Russians came over was February of 2014, when they played two friendlies, both won by the U.S. The Yanks won 7-0 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, FL, and 8-0 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

The Russians are preparing for the 2017 UEFA Women’s Euro this summer in the Netherlands, where they’ll face stiff competition in Group B with Germany, Italy, and Sweden. They qualified for the tournament by finishing second behind Germany in Group 5 of the qualifying process.

Last week, our Dan Garza told you what to watch for in these friendlies. In addition, watch for possible caps for fresh, young faces, like 17-year-old midfielder Jaelin Howell and 16-year-old forward Sophia Smith — both of Real Colorado and members of the 2016 U.S. U-17 World Cup team. Megan Oyster got a run-out in Thursday’s game.

Among the regulars missing these two friendlies for the USWNT due to injury are Tobin Heath (back), Lindsay Horan (hip flexor), and Morgan Brian (knee). Defender Julie Johnston will also be unavailable due to taking her honeymoon.

The Orlando Pride will be represented by goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris, defender Ali Krieger, and forward Alex Morgan. Krieger and Morgan played the second half on Thursday and both nearly scored goals. Harris may get the start after Alyssa Naeher went the full 90 four days ago.
