Orlando City at San Jose Earthquakes: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread, and More

Welcome to your match thread for tonight's match-up between Orlando City (6-3-1, 19 points) and the San Jose Earthquakes (4-4-3, 15 points) at Avaya Stadium. It’s the only scheduled meeting in this cross-conference series scheduled for 2017. Orlando City is 0-0-2 in the all-time series (0-0-1 on the road, but that game was at Levi’s Stadium, not Avaya).

Last year, the Lions were gut-punched in the 94th minute in an emotional match that ended in a 2-2 draw. It was the first home match following the Pulse nightclub tragedy and what appeared to be a storybook ending to a cathartic win turned to ash in our mouths as the three minutes of stoppage that were signaled by the fourth official turned into a fourth minute and an equalizer by Shea Salinas after Brek Shea had cleared the ball nearly to midfield and left everyone expecting the final whistle. Seb Hines opened the scoring for Orlando only to see Chad Barrett tie it up. Julio Baptista restored the lead late but Salinas ruined everything.

The two teams also drew in the first meeting, a 1-1 affair at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, with the Lions down to 10 men after Shea was sent off in the first half. Kaká (64’) and Chris Wondolowski (68’) each scored from the penalty spot in that initial meeting. Fun fact: Darwin Ceren conceded the penalty to San Jose and now is a member of the Quakes.

The MLS injury report lists Carlos Rivas (leg injury) but as of this writing there was no status given and he did make the trip to San Jose. It’s difficult to imagine him making the trip if he wasn’t going to be in the 18. Rafael Ramos (hamstring) made a rehab start for OCB on Saturday at FC Cincinnati, playing 75 minutes, as did Seb Hines (knee surgery). Kevin Alston (knee) is nearing a return as well. Tommy Redding is with the U.S. U-20s for the FIFA U-20 World Cup for the next several weeks. Entering the week, San Jose listed Quincy Amarikwa (knee surgery), Marvell Wynne (heart abnormality), Marc Pelosi (left knee), Harold Cummings (leg surgery), and Shea Salinas) as out. Victor Bernardez (calf) was listed as questionable but played the full 90 in San Jose’s loss at Colorado.
