Orlando Pride at Seattle Reign FC: Preview, How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread, and More

Welcome to your match thread for today’s match-up between the Orlando Pride (1-2-2, 5 points) and the Seattle Reign (2-1-2, 8 points). This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the two sides this season. The Reign will visit Orlando on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m.

The Pride is coming off a 3-1 win over the first-place North Carolina Courage a week ago and now get the league’s second-place team (entering the weekend, anyway) at their place in what is the fourth of six matches so far this season away from Orlando City Stadium. Thanks, schedule makers.

Orlando is 1-1-0 against the Reign, with the home team winning both meetings in the Pride’s inaugural year. The Reign came to Orlando on May 8, 2016 and left without any points in a 2-0 Pride victory at Camping World Stadium. Sarah Hagen and Lianne Sanderson provided the offense that day for Orlando.

The Reign must not have liked that result because they took it out on the Pride in a 5-2 thrashing in Seattle on July 23. Jasmyne Spencer and Kristen Edmonds scored for the Pride. Kim Little (penalty), Jess Fishlock, Manon Melis, Kendall Fletcher, and a Toni Pressley own-goal gave Seattle plenty to celebrate.

The Pride have a modest two-game unbeaten streak going (1-0-1), after last weekend’s win and a 1-1 draw at FC Kansas City. The Reign pounded the Washington Spirit last weekend, to the tune of a 6-2 final score. Seattle is also 1-0-1 in its last two, drawing Portland away, 2-2, the previous week.

Orlando’s Monica (bone bruise) is out for today’s match. The injury report also lists Aubrey Bledsoe (concussion) out after she was struck during halftime warmups against North Carolina. Chioma Ubogagu (hamstring) is also listed as out on the NWSL injury report after scoring her first Pride goal last weekend and appearing on this week’s PawedCast. Seattle lists Larissa Crummer (right foot fracture), and Diana Matheson (left ACL tear) as out and Merritt Mathias is suspended).

The Pride got some offensive help with the addition of forward Rachel Hill. The club announced her signing Friday. Hill, a rookie forward out of the University of Connecticut, was acquired in a trade with the Portland Thorns.
