Welcome to your match thread for tonight's match-up between Orlando City (7-5-4, 25 points) and the Seattle Sounders (5-7-4, 19 points) at CenturyLink Field. It’s the only scheduled meeting between these cross-conference opponents.

The Lions are 0-2-0 against Seattle in the all-time series since the club joined MLS, and neither previous match was close. The Sounders blew Orlando off the pitch in 2015 in the Lions’ last trip to Seattle, cruising to a 4-0 victory. Right back Tyler Turner picked up a pair of first-half yellow cards in that match and the Lions were forced to play 50+ minutes a man short. Obafemi Martins scored a brace and Seattle added goals by Nelson Valdez and Thomás. The final score would have been worse if not for goalkeeper Tally Hall stopping Martins on a penalty.

Last season, the Sounders came into Camping World Stadium in August and won, 3-1. The Lions struck first through a Seb Hines goal, but Clint Dempsey’s hat trick more than brought the Sounders back.

Orlando City is just 1-4-1 on the road this season, winning at New York City FC and drawing at San Jose. To avoid giving Seattle a jump-start toward a playoff push like they did last year, the Lions will need to take something from tonight’s match in one of the league’s toughest venues for visiting teams. The Sounders are currently below the playoff line, but they still defend their fortress, to the tune of a 4-1-2 home record.

City is unbeaten in three MLS games (1-0-2) but has won only once in nine league outings. Seattle has won three of its last five, including three straight at home.

Orlando City will be without leading goal scorer Larin due to his DUI arrest last week. He is out indefinitely while going through the MLS Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program (SABH). Antonio Nocerino is eligible to return after a one-game red card suspension. Seattle entered the week with two players listed as questionable on the MLS injury report — defenders Tony Alfaro (knee) and Brad Evans (calf strain). Oniel Fisher and Jordy Delem are at the Caribbean Cup with Jamaica and Martinique, respectively.
