Orlando City is in the midst of its Gold Cup break and it’s a much-needed opportunity for Jason Kreis to make some adjustments after giving his players a few days off to rest up. If last week’s game against Toronto FC is any indication, the team could use a few tweaks. We’re breaking down the match and here’s a spoiler: I didn’t think the team played too badly overall, the Lions simply couldn’t cash in on their chances and they were punished for every mistake.

We also discussed a whole closet full of ties: Pride-Spirit, OCB-Pittsburgh, and USMNT-Panama. The Pride were bitten by yet another late penalty call, dropping two valuable road points, while the young Lions just couldn’t get passed the Riverhounds’ parked bus. We talk about all of that, plus the U.S. kicking off its Gold Cup campaign, the start of the MLS transfer window and what the Lions need, and much more.

Joining us this week is Orlando Pride midfielder-turned-defender Kristen Edmonds, who was gracious enough to spend some time with us talking about the NWSL season this year, how she and her teammates block out those penalty calls, the quality of Marta and Camila, welcoming Alex Morgan back, the differences and similarities of Ashlyn Harris and Aubrey Bledsoe, and a whole lot more. Kristen was fun to talk to and she brought all of her energy to this pod.

No Orlando City game this weekend to prep for, but there’s plenty going on with OCB in the I-4 Derby, Pride vs. FC Kansas City, and two more U.S. Gold Cup group stage matches.

Here’s this week’s rundown:

0:12- Dave and Michael break down Orlando City’s loss to Toronto, plus we’re really sick of penalty kicks given to the Pride’s opponents.

33:23- Kristen Edmonds joins us to talk about her switch to defense, who decides who’s taking those free kicks, Alex Morgan’s return, how she deals with adversity, and more.

49:16- #AskTMLPC, transfer window talk, Orlando City’s needs, and the USMNT with an uninspiring draw to start the Gold Cup.
