Orlando City Striker Dom Dwyer Out for Tonight’s Match at New York Red Bulls

Orlando City striker Dom Dwyer will miss tonight’s match against the New York Red Bulls while recovering from surgery on his nose. According to Orlando Sentinel reporter Alicia DelGallo, Dwyer was injured in a game against Atlanta, but only got the surgery this past Thursday, after training with the club all week.

The good news is that Dwyer should only miss this game and return for the club’s home match against Columbus Crew SC next weekend.

Dwyer’s absence further depletes the Lions, who are already without top defender Jonathan Spector due to a knee injury. Jason Kreis will most likely go back to his previous strike tandem of Cyle Larin and Carlos Rivas at Red Bull Arena tonight.

The summer’s big acquisition, Dwyer has played in both of Orlando City’s games since coming over from Sporting Kansas City in a trade that saw an MLS record amount of allocation money sent from Orlando to SKC. He has only one shot attempt in 146 minutes on the field but seemed to be starting to find some chemistry up top with Larin in the most recent outing at Montreal last Saturday.

Peruvian international Yoshimar Yotun, the recently acquired Designated Player, could make his Orlando City debut tonight.

Get well soon, Dom!
