USA vs. New Zealand (Round 2): Preview, How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, and Match Thread

Welcome to your live thread for the United States Women's National Team’s friendly match against New Zealand. Once again, Orlando Pride stars Alex Morgan and Ashlyn Harris could be in action as the Yanks finish up their two home friendlies against the Football Ferns — this time at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, OH (8 p.m. ET, FOX Sports 1).

Morgan, scored her 75th career international goal in Friday’s 3-1 win in Colorado, tying Cindy Parlow for seventh place on the USA’s all-time goal scoring list. 

The U.S. and New Zealand have met 15 times before, with the Stars & Stripes posting a record of 13-1-1. The loss came in the first ever meeting, a 1-0 win by the Ferns in Taiwan back on Dec. 15, 1987. The two sides have met in the Olympics three times, with the U.S. winning all three by a combined 8-0 score. The most recent meeting prior to this set of friendlies was a 2-0 win by the USWNT in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in the 2016 Olympics last Aug. 3.

The USWNT will be playing in Cincinnati for the first time since 2008 and in its first match at Nippert Stadium. The United States previously faced New Zealand in Cincinnati, winning 6-0 in 2004 on the post-Olympic tour after the U.S. won the gold medal in Athens, Greece. Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, Aly Wagner, Julie Foudy and Cindy Parlow (2) scored in that match for the USWNT. The Yanks’ three previous matches in Cincinnati were played at Galbreath Field (1993) and Paul Brown Stadium (2004 and 2008).

U.S. defender Kelley O’Hara and New Zealand’s Betsy Hassett and Annalie Longo all reached 100 international caps with their respective sides on Friday. O’Hara, however, left that game with a knock.
